Many Australian employers are approached to employ and/or sponsor applicants currently in Australia on either a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417)
In many cases candidates on these visas can be sponsored by employers who seek to be approved sponsors for TSS (Subclass 482), ENS or RSMS visa applicants
The applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria including English and skill requirements.
The Working Holiday visa is for people aged 18 to 30 years of age, who are interested in a working holiday of up to 12 months in Australia. You must have turned 18, but not turned 31, at the time of your visa application.
This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through short-term employment. However, if your primary reason for travelling to Australia is to participate in the work force, you should consider a visa designed for that purpose.
If you are granted this visa you can:
enter Australia within 12 months of grant
stay up to 12 months
leave and re-enter Australia any number of times while the visa is valid
work in Australia for up to six months with each employer
study for up to four months.
Countries/Regions Participating in Working Holiday Program
For people from Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and United Kingdom.
Note:
Hong Kong Documents of Identity cannot be used to apply for this visa
German Documents of Identity or Children’s passports cannot be used to apply for this visa
European Union and national identity cards cannot be used to apply for this visa. You must apply using a passport from an eligible country. If you lodge an application using an identity card, your application cannot be accepted, and you will need to lodge another application using your passport
If you are from Chile, Thailand, Turkey or USA, you may be eligible to apply for a Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462), which provides similar opportunities for tertiary educated people aged 18 to 30.
Applicant: Second Working Holiday Visa Eligibility
A first Working Holiday visa cannot be extended beyond the 12 month validity period. However, if you have completed three months of specified work in regional Australia on your first Working Holiday visa you may be eligible to apply for a second Working Holiday visa.
You must:
have completed three months of specified work in regional Australia while on your first Working Holiday (417) visa (there is no requirement to do further specified work on the second visa)
not have previously entered Australia on a Work and Holiday (462) visa
be aged between 18 and 30 years (inclusive) at the time of applying, however, you may be aged over 30 years of age at the time your visa is granted
be applying no more than 12 months before you intend to travel to Australia, if applying from outside Australia
will not be accompanied by dependent children at any time during your stay in Australia
Note: A dependent child is the child, or step-child, of you or your partner who:is not married, engaged to be married, or in a de facto relationship
has not turned 18.
If you hold a second Working Holiday visa, you may return to work for a further six months for an employer with whom you worked on your first Working Holiday visa.
